Pollock In Action

“Pollock In Action” is an interactive installation to create drip paintings with light. It is part of the project “Art-Transforming” which was shown in the Kunsthaus Zürich on January 27th 2007.

The course “2D-Interfaces” was about finding an innovative solution for a web-radio capable handheld device. It should, like iPod, have the potential to get a “cultish object”. As a first step I made an analysis of “cult”; what is a cult, how does it arise, what is its definition?
My conclusion was, that for a thing to get cultic, it must

- be innovative
- be accepted by the masses for a certain time
- have a community of enthusiasts/connoisseurs around it
